Grapefruit arrives in Florida.
French nobleman Count Odet Philippe introduces the grapefruit to Florida near Tampa Bay.
- 1750
Grapefruit first identified.
Originally known as “the forbidden fruit,” grapefruit is first documented by Rev. Griffith Hughes, a Welsh naturalist and writer.
